BRISCO EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW W/ CHAMP MAG ON “OK KUSH”
CHAMP Magazine
Nathan “Hollywood” Adom

CHAMP: Now on 4/20 we had the “OG Kush” mixtape that dropped. I wanted to start off with why you decided to name your tape that?

Brisco: That’s basically like all I smoke, and I’m the Opa Locka Goon so OG went with the Opa Locka Goon. On 4/20, I celebrate 4/20 so I had to do it.

CHAMP: Who do we got featured on that joint?

Brisco: We got Billy Blue assisting on the mixtape, got Flo Rida on there, just the hood, and it’s a lot of me on there. I hate to do shows where I can’t do my shows because my whole song has a lot of features on the album so I shied away from that.

CHAMP: We’ve seen the mixtape scene come at a point where its even being looked upon as albums. Would you put this on the same level against some tapes like Cams “Boss of all Bosses” or Fabs “TINC 2”?

Brisco: Yeah yeah, there’s definitely an album feel because I didn’t put no DJs on there. The cover looks like an album, and it definitely has an album feel. That mixtapes better than a lot of cats albums.

CHAMP: (Laughs). I hear you on that. You dropped da joint In the Hood – ft. Lil Wayne as well as the video. What joint are you gonna hit the ppl with next?

Brisco: Actually “I’m the Hood” was the first track and the first time I ever met Wayne and that was the first track we ever did when I got signed to Cash Money, but I got a new track called “On the Wall” featuring Lil Wayne. We just shot the video a couple days ago and it’s gon’ be a big look for Brisco. The record is out now, the video should be out in three weeks.

CHAMP: You mentioned  Weezy was the first artist you worked with when you got signed Cash Money. I wanted to get an update with your label situation. Now you’re definitely repping Poe Boy, but I wanted to verify is there a joint venture with Cash Money?

Brisco: Yeah yeah it’s Poe Boy/Cash Money with the Universal distribution.

CHAMP: You also hooked up with Big Page hooked up to do the joint and video “Surrounded by Killas”. How’d you and page hook up to get that poppin?

Brisco: We had mutual friends. Delroy’s actually from Miami and Delroy’s up there in Canada politicking and doing a lot of things. We actually had a mutual friend and when Page came down, he was a real dude so I had to get it in with him, I had to spark with him, so that’s what we did and we came up with “Surrounded by Killas”.

CHAMP: Now you’ve stated to have start the goon movement. Do you agree with the statement that the goon is the new thug or is it a step above?

Brisco: It’s definitely the new thug. The Goon is the new Thug. It’s that trend, it’s that era right now, it’s that modern day thug.

CHAMP: We’re in the second quarter of 2010, and I know a lot of people are actually waiting on the album to actually drop, so do we have an actual release date for that joint?

Brisco: We don’t actually have a release date, but it will be released before July though.

CHAMP: What elese can we expect from Brisco and when can we expect you out here in Toronto man?

Brisco: Ahh man, I’m tryina get in Toronto right now. I love Toronto, I love Canada, shouts out to Big Page, shouts out to you my brother for making big moves and shouts out to the whole of Canada just for following the Brisco movement.

CHAMP: For the people that wanna be up to date with anything going on with Brisco, where can the people catch up with you?

Brisco: @briscoopalocka is the twitter, 305brisco is the myspace, I’m also on 24hrhiphop.com, I’m also on worldstar, I am a worldstar baby, all the youtubes.
