CHAMP: Let’s start off with your name. Is it real or just a stage name?

Shannon Hylton: Yes, Shannon Hylton is my real name. Sometimes I go by Miss.Hylton though.

 
CHAMP: When did you realize you wanted to get into the modeling game?

Shannon Hylton: Well for a long time people had been telling me I should be a model so as soon as I turned 18, I started getting into it more and started taking it more seriously.

 
CHAMP: We’ll let all the readers of Champ Mag know that you’re a familiar face in Toronto. Let us know about some of the things you’ve done so far.

Shannon Hylton: Well if you been to all the major car shows this year, you would have seen me there selling pictures and also I’ve done a lot of fashion shows the past few month like the “Everything to do with Sex Show”, “Urban meets Vogue”, and most recently “Sounds of Fashion”. You’re going to see a lot more of me though within the next few months!

 
CHAMP: Do you have a plan B? If you weren’t modeling what will you be doing right now?

Shannon Hylton: In September I’ll be going back to school. I’ll be at Ryerson for Retail Management. I love my program because I can combine business with fashion.

 
CHAMP: You have a very unique look. What is your background?

Shannon Hylton: I always get funny responses when I ask people what they think I am. I’ve gotten Somalian, I’ve also gotten Phillipino a few times lol. But I’m actually mixed with Jamaican, Bajan, and British.

 
CHAMP: Reading your resume and bio it seems like you’ve only been in the game for a short period of time yet you’ve done a lot in the Toronto area. What was your favorite gig and why?

Shannon Hylton: My favorite gig would have to be being a body painted model at the Belly feat. Snoop Dogg song release party. We got to sip Moet and party in the VIP with a Canadian star. A few of the Raptors were also there so it felt like a celebrity party!

 
CHAMP: Toronto has many models on the come up, what makes you different than the ones that are out there right now?

Shannon Hylton: “Man she so fine! ‘Straight up dog!’ She stand about 5’4, coca-cola red bone, Daamn!” haha well I’m 5’8 but you get the point! I also think I have a unique look that could satisfy different types of modeling. Not only that, but a lot of models in Toronto these days are huge divas and take a lot of things for granted. I’m a very easy-going person and don’t like treating people like I’m better than them. 

 
CHAMP: Shannon, the men reading this have come this far and they all want to know what’s your status? Are you dating someone?

Shannon Hylton: Sorry guys but I’m taken. I’ve been with my boyfriend for about three years now!

 
CHAMP: You seem like you’ve had a great start this year in terms of gigs, what are your plans for the rest of this year and for the future?

Shannon Hylton: Well right now I’m working on getting my website and business cards done. For now you will be able to see me at all the major car shows. I’m also planning on submitting to a few major magazines like King, Smooth, Black Mens Magazine, Essence; so King Magazine here I come!

 
CHAMP: Fashion shows seem to be your asset when it comes to your career, I know they can get messy sometimes, especially back stage. Any funny moments?

Shannon Hylton: I’m a pretty organized person so luckily with the fashion shows I’ve done so far have ran pretty smoothly but I remember one show that I did, we had to run down a few stairs to get from the stage to the dressing areas and I might have slipped and fell down a few stairs one time lol. But thank god it was backstage!
