CHAMP: What are you up to at the current moment?
Pleasure P: We just got to Cleveland to rock a performance for the Americas Most Wanted and we just came from Montreal so we drove here.
CHAMP: Now I wanna start off with “The Introduction of Marcus Cooper which dropped in June. What’s the craziest response you’ve received about the album so far?
Pleasure P: A lot of people can relate to the album. Me performing on this tour has made me touch a whole nother fanbase of people that already know about me, but they don’t know that I’m solo. For the most part a lot of people really like this album and a lot of people can definitely relate to it.
CHAMP: Of course you were buzzing well before the album came out and I totally understand the title of the album, It’s pretty self explanatory in terms of the message you wanted to send with the album. Do you feel the message was sent exactly how you wanted or do you feel a few tweaks could have been done on the album?
Pleasure P: When you do something you say well the next time I can do something better. That’s all apart of growing in life. I definitely have a lot of stuff to work on. There’s a lot of things I can do better. This is my first album so definitely.
CHAMP: Now you kept it real solo on this album. I believe the only feature on it is Joc. Who are some of the producers on this joint?
Pleasure P: Ne-Yo, Tank, there’s a lot of people on this album. Static Major did a record on this album. That’s my brother from another mother. He died before my album, but he’s responsible for “ The Introduction of Marcus Cooper”.
CHAMP: I was actually gonna get into that in regards to Static Major. Of course he was a good friend of yours and I can only imagine what you were going through when he passed but are there any unreleased joints we can expect that you and Static made?
Pleasure P: We got a lot of music unreleased and I just can’t wait to release it, but it’s how you release it. When you release it d it make sense? There’s a way to go about doing it. I can’t wait to release it. I got a whole lot in store for people that wanna know.
CHAMP: Now of course Boyfriend #2 is a straight banger. Now I wanna ask you. What would you say is the top three effective ways of keeping your girl from meeting a Boyfriend #2?
Pleasure P: You just gotta treat her like everyday is the first day and everytime is the first time and you can’t get comfortable in a relationship.
CHAMP: Got you. That’s for the fellas to take tips on. You’re currently on the Americas Most Wanted Tour. Crazy tour going on right now and you were actually in Toronto. Was that your first time being here?
Pleasure P: Oh no I was actually in Toronto, this is like my second time. I am on the Americas Most Wanted Tour. You know that’s a good thing.
CHAMP: Was there anything about Torontonians that surprised you that you didn’t know before?
Pleasure P: I mean I went on kinda early but it was a great crowd out there. There’s a lot of beautiful women out there. There’s nothing I didn’t expect. Actually I didn’t expect Toronto to have a Benihannas. I went there and ate.
CHAMP: I think there’s one inside the Royal York downtown.
Pleasure P: Yeah I was driving downtown and I was like I wish there was a Benihannas. I looked and sure enough there was a Benihannas, and I was like wow because usually you have to google everything or mapquest everything.
CHAMP: Of course you got your company Jeans Addict. If you can educate the people on what kind of company it is and when can we expect it out here in Toronto?
Pleasure P: It’s a clothing line that me and my partner created and it’s strictly for women that range in size from zero to 16 and it’s just a clothing line for all the ladies who love jeans and jean addicts. That’s what it’s for. At the top of the year I’ll be focusing on that but now I got the tour on my plate, I’m working on my second album, trying to do acting and movies after the tour so I’m kind of caught up doing that type of stuff,
CHAMP: Now I read that you were actually gonna stop with the Pleasure P name and just go by your name Marcus Cooper. Is there any truth to that?
Pleasure P: Yeah there’s a lot of truth to that. Maybe it could be like an alter ego but I wanna introduce me Marcus Cooper.
CHAMP: Other than women. What motivates Pleasure P to write and does he write his own stuff?
Pleasure P: I definitely write my own stuff. I wirte off real life experiences. I’m not gonna sing about driving a Cadillac because that’s not something I do.
CHAMP: Now everybody’s always asking about the falling out with you and Pretty Ricky. Whatr’s the most annoying question you get about that that you wish journalists would quit asking?
Pleasure P: I mean, I just don’t want them to ask me nothin’ about Pretty Ricky. Everybody wanna know ‘cause it’s a story but honestly it was a bad situation for me, but I moved on and they moved on and nobody’s saying nothing ‘bout nothing.
CHAMP: What’s the next single we got dropping?
Pleasure P: The next single we gon’ be dropping is called “Gotta Have You”. Look out for that one. That’s a monster on the album and number six on the album. A lot of people don’t know it yet but there’s another reason why they should go buy my album. People just keep getting familiar with me as a solo artist and we do well like that. “Under” is already a top 20 record on urban radio so it’s doing well.
