Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes- Eye Legacy Review
Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes- Eye Legacy

4/5
By: Laura Cirami
In 2002, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was taken away from us but still remains as an impact to the world. The album “Eye Legacy” gives fans and listeners an opportunity to hear Lisa like you never heard her before. The Lopes family did an excellent job in assisting producers, writers, and artists create an album the same way Lisa would have done if she were still with us. Thank you for reminding me how great Ms. Left Eye really was and continues to be.
01 Spread Your Wings ft. Free
Being the first track on the album I felt that it set the mood for the rest of the CD. It’s powerful and very motivating. Most likely one of those tracks you’d wake up and bump to. It was great to hear Free on the track as well.
02 In The Life ft. Bobby Valentino
Every artist has a song that explains their journey from “rags to riches” and this song tells us all about Lisa’s life. It’s very catchy and Bobby Valentino embraces it with his beautiful voice. Any hustler grinding right now can relate to this track.
03 Legendary
The beat on this track is very heavy and creates a superhero feel to the song. Lisa goes in depth about being “untouchable”. The ending got a bit repetitive but other than that, I’m feeling it overall. After listening to it, I’m pretty sure your confidence level will go a smidge higher. I know mine did.
04 Let’s Just Do It ft. TLC & Missy Elliot
This is by far my favorite track on the album. If I had to give it a star rating it would be 5 out of 5. Let’s just say it’s a family reunion. Missy & TLC. It was a wrap after I heard that line up. If there were a single Lisa would have dropped if she were still with us, it would have to be this one.
05 Block Party ft. Lil’ Mama
If you want to take a trip down memory lane, please take in this track it. It’s young, fun and energetic. As soon as you hear the beat you’re going to want to jump rope, hopscotch and have a BBQ in all 3 minutes of this song. Lil’ Mama was the best choice to collaborate on this because of her status right now as the “voice of the young people”. Perfect summer track, I couldn’t ask for more. Warning: It may give you a warm & fuzzy feeling.
06 Listen
Some tracks are out there to remind you about things you forget. This track is basically quoting every aspect of life and all about fulfilling your destiny.
07 Bounce ft. Chamillionaire & Bone Crusher
This is definitely a club banger. You get somewhat of an adrenaline rush when hearing this. I picture a club scene with hands in the air and flashing lights when taking in this track or even a dance scene in a movie. Chamillionaire & Bone Crusher was the best choices for this track. Their flow goes very well with Lisa’s tone on the song.
08 Let It Out ft. Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men
All albums have a few slow, heart filling tracks and this is one of them. It’s talking about life. It’s taking it back to the story telling aspect of songs. The tone is very scary and sad. But at the same time, it will motivate you to do better and keep going on!
09 Through The Pain ft. Ryan Toby & Claudette Ortiz
Lisa pours her heart in this one. Gives a sneak peak about her life and growing up in the female group TLC. It’s a love track. You can’t go wrong with that.
10 Forever
Lisa appealed to the masses. “Forever” is a track for everyone and she makes sure this is known by telling us at the beginning of the song. It reminds you how friends are priceless. I can’t lie; it brought a tear to my eye.
11 Neva Will Eye Eva
Fast paced, blunt, and profound. Lisa did not play around when she spit on this one. It sort of has a rock feel to it. I liked it. My favorite quote is at the beginning- “rain drops in my left eye”. Can’t get better than that.
12 L.I.S.A
Price of fame is expensive. Lisa lets it be known in this one. All artists just want to live like regular people. This was definitely the perfect track to close the album.
