LAX REVIEW – THE GAME

The Game – LAX REVIEW
The Boy Hollywood
3halftapes
3.5/5

INTRO
The album starts off with very spiritual and passionate prayer by DMX, which was definitely a shock, but definitely dope.

L.A.X FILES
The Game walks you through the hard life in Los Angeles. Definitely a dope beat over a crazy piano melody.
STATE OF EMERGENCY ft. Ice Cube
This tracks alright. The lyrics are definitely dope on this track but it could’ve been backed up behind better production. The track features Ice Cube on the hook who states California ain’t a state and that it’s an army.

Tryina be Shabba Ranks time to flex – The Game

BULLETPROOF DIARIES ft. Raekwon
Now this hears a damn banger! The tracks about a lot of gunplay and shows the connection between Raekwon and Game from Staten Island to Compton. The transitions between the two artists on this track flow’s real nice. Crazy joint.
MY LIFE ft. Lil Wayne
The second single off of the LAX and has Lil Wayne doing some sort of a singing on this joint. According to Game this track was done way before everyone ridin’ on Weezy. On this joint Game shares his life with y’all and has some kind words for Jesse Jackson on this joint. A bit too mellow to me but there is some real talk on this joint.
MONEY
This has a sample saying “money” throughout the whole track. This seems to be the only track that Game’s on by himself. It’s basically a track of Game talking about his money, other people’s money, and just money in general. He also states “I’m about a dollar 50 cent ain’t real”.

My money stand out like Frank Lucas mink

CALI SUNSHINE ft. Bilal
You always gotta love to smooth soul sound of Bilal on a track.  The Game spits about what happens under the sun of California. The track is alright ain’t really a track that got me excited.
YA HEARD ft. Ludacris
Over a sample saying “right” through a track is The Game & Ludacris just spittin’ with no particular theme behind this track. Felt that the fact that Luda is on this track should’ve made this track way bigger than it is.
HARD LIQUOR
This seems to be a answering message of Nas leaving a message on Game’s phone for him to come out to New York and party. All of a sudden Game’s going to a club then it appears that a Spanish guy gets into Games car and is marveled to be in The Games car… I don’t know either
HOUSE OF PAIN
So Game has two tracks by himself…my bad…Not really feeling this track.
Everything I do is a big like the nigga Ceaserleo (Lil Cease)-The Game
GENTLEMAN’S AFFAIR ft. Ne-Yo
I’m lovin’ this joint! The Game slows it down and lets the people know that bitches love thugs and ladies love Gentlemen. Ne-Yo kills his verse and the hook. The beat is definitely dope. Dope track!
LET US LIVE ft. Chrisette Michelle
Produced by Scott Storch, Game & Chrisette Michelle ask God to let them live throughout the hate they may face. The tracks alright. Chrisette kills the vocals on this joint.
TOUCHDOWN ft. Raheem DaVaughn
At the beginning you hear the original sample from that old Mase song with Total (Tell Me What You Want). This tracks for the ladies as Game and Raheem talk about crushin a shorty. Game has some concept on this track where he spits and whipers the last word of each bar. The tracks alright.
ANGEL ft. Common
This tracks dope. It’s got that west coast feel with a sample singin’ Ang- …Angel (sounds dope). Dope track dedicated to an Angel. Not too sure if the Angel represents hiphop or an actual girl. The reference to the “Angel” is over the place, but I like the track anyways.
NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE ft. Latoya Williams
The track starts off with radio reportings on LA radio stations reporting the death of BIG and Eazy E. The Game starts off spitting as if he’s Tupac on what happened the night he died. On the 2nd verse The Game tries to spit like Biggie on what was going through his mind the night he died. The third verse is the same thinking out loud format, with The Game putting on Eazy E’s shoes on the day he died.
DOPE BOYS ft. Travis Barker
Definitely a track that came out on the streets a few months ago. The tracks alright with Travis Barker on the drums and The Beatles Lonely People sample. The tracks alright though.
GAME’S PAIN ft. Keyshia Cole
Of course the single off LAX. Real talk, I’m not a fan of this track, but it’s doing it’s numbers and people like this joint so you gotta respect that. The Game talks about hiphop from back in the day and paying homage to artists in the past.
LETTER TO THE KING ft. NAS
Tracks mellow, but a good mellow. I’m lovin’ this track. The tracks a letter to Dr. Martin Luther King as Game & Nas pay their respect to King. On the chorus Game lets the beat breathe for a pretty long time, but I like it ‘cause it makes you just zone out at the moment.
Outro
On the outro Dmx is back and does another outspoken prayer to close out the album LAX.
