THE PREFACE REVIEW – ELZHI

THE PREFACE REVIEW – ELZHI

Intro (The Preface)
The album starts off with a conversation piece over a dope soul beat with two cats talking about how much the game sucks and the request for Elzhi to drop some heat, and at their request Elzhi drops a quick 8 bars.

The Leak ft. Ayah
Big ups to Toronto native Ayah who killed the vocals on this joint. This is probably my favorite joint on this album where Elzhi’s letting y’all know this is definitely a leak y’all wanna hear.

Guessing Game
The track is definitely creative. He basically spits a bar and you gotta guess what word he’s going to end the line with. Some of y’all might get stumped on this tracks for the first, second, and probably third time lol.

Motown 25 ft. Royce Da 5’9
This is straight a lyrical slaughter. Didn’t really find the relation to Motown 25, or could it be the fact that both artists are from Detroit aka Motown? I guess that’s it, but a dope track.
I left with a Grand like Theft Auto – Elzhi

Brag Swag
The beats kinda mellow on this and makes you wanna zone out for a few minutes. Elzhi spits a lot of bragging on this joint for the fact that he came from nothing and now making paper off music that he’s proud of making.
Keep niggas training like derailed roads

Colors
Elzhi gets his Young Dro on and spits about colors relating to several topics Red Cross and Blue Shields to Blackberries and Bluetooths with emphasis by a high pitched voice on the actual colors.

Fire Rmx ft. Black Milk, Guilty Simpson, Fatt Father, Danny Brown, & Fat Ray
This tracks alright. Felt that with the amount of collabos they could’ve came harder with harder production and sharper lyrics.

D.E.M.O.N.S
Elzhi spits about the street demons that lure you into committing crmes and going back to the streets to hustling and how the demons affect people and even our music. The ting is he does it where every line is a word starting with the first letter of each word of Demons. Hard to explain…just listen to the track!!

Save Ya ft. T3
Dope track. Loving the harmonious sample on this joint. Elzhi’s speaking to a particular shorty on this track. The type of shorties who do anything for a homey who’s successful and making paper aka Gold digger!
You bone for a Sprint phone and rent – Elzhi

Yeah ft. Phat Kat
On this joint Elzhi and Phat Kat are attempting to bring back hip hop. The tracks not bad and they refuse to do any dumbing down of their lyrics.

Transitional Joint
This is for the playas who don’t believe in commitment. Elzhi basically talks about the fact that there comes a time when a shorty finally gets a homey to stop his infidelity and stick with that one chick that has him sprung. Towards the ending the track goes into what appears as a hidden joint with anonymous singer talking about telling a girl to hop in his spaceship and fly.

Talking In My Sleep
Elzhi spits about a series of dreams he has. Tracks alright and pretty random, but original. When’s the last time you heard someone rap about their dreams?

The Science ft. Fes Roc
The flow game on this joint is crazy! This joint talks about the fact when a homey needs to get that paper and even if it takes scheming or robbin’ or even killing it will be done to get right and get what you want.

Hands Up
It’s a stick up stick up! On this joint it Elzhi spits about stick ups and robbery’s including the dialogue that usually happens between the robber and the person being robbed. Very creative.

What I Write
On this joint Elzhi talks about what he usually raps about. He reminds fans that although he rhymes different from others, you gotta love it.

Growing Up ft. A.B
Definitely a real talk joint with Elzhi speaking about life and him viewing certain things from a grown up point of view.
